Linn LinnDrum LM2

The LinnDrum, also referred to as the LM-2, is a drum machine that was manufactured by Linn Electronics between 1982 and 1985. It was designed by the American engineer Roger Linn, who had previously released the Linn LM-1 in 1980. The LinnDrum was a more affordable and widely produced successor to the LM-11.
The LinnDrum was popular for its high-quality samples, flexibility, and affordability. It sold far more units than its predecessor (the LM-1) and its successor (the Linn 9000) combined. About 5,000 units were sold1.
The LinnDrum improved on the LM-1 by including crash and ride cymbal sounds. However, it had fewer tuning capabilities than the LM-12. Although it was a pre-MIDI device, aftermarket MIDI retrofit kits were produced.
The LinnDrum was used on many recordings in the 1980s. The Linn became a signature sound of the early MTV years

The Sequential Circuits DrumTraks is a classic drum machine from the 19841. It was the first drum machine to support MIDI, which made it very easy to use with old analogs and new MIDI synths and sequencers1.
The DrumTraks had thirteen fully programmable sounds3, including kick, snare, toms, hi-hats, and cymbals1. It also had superior editing capabilities for its time, with programmable tuning and level control for each sound, extensive editing with copy and paste ability, and a mixer section for individual sounds14.

The TR-707 has 15 digitally sampled sound and 10-voice polyphony. The alternate bass drum, snare, and hi-hat sounds cannot be triggered simultaneously. The instruments are labeled as Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Low Tom, Mid Tom, Hi Tom, Rimshot, Cowbell, Hand Clap, Tambourine, Hi-Hat (Closed or Open), Cymbal (Crash or Ride), as well as an additional function labeled accent, which serves to rhythmically modify the volume of the other instruments.

The TR-727 is a Latin drum kit version of the TR-707. Very cool for tribal, latin and Indian house beats. Individual outputs and volume sliders for each sound, all the same great features and cool Matrix display and MIDI implementation as the TR-707. For programming, it features a shuffle and flam effect and its programming abilities are very impressive. But it does have its limitations, the only adjustment you can make to each drum tone is volume. Aphex Twin, Freddy Fresh, and Luke Vibert have used the TR-727.
